During an inspection of a local property, Inspector Steve discovered the OPPD (Omaha Public Power District) “Cool Smart Program” device’s wires were disconnected from the outdoor AC unit.
The OPPD Cool Smart Program is a way for homeowners to reduce their energy consumption. The utility services attaches a small device to the home’s exterior near the AC or heat pump. It then operates the home’s AC or heat pump in 15-minute intervals during peak energy use times (less than 3 hours).
