During a recent home inspection, Steve discovered a very unique radon mitigation system.
Radon mitigation is used to reduce radon gas concentrations in buildings. Radon is a significant contributor to environmental radioactivity and has been proven to cause serious health problems, including lung cancer.
Mitigation (expulsion) of radon in the air is done through ventilation, either collected below a concrete floor slab or a membrane on the ground, or by increasing the air changes per hour in the building.
